Aligned From the Top
Grecian mythological god Zeus condemned Titan god Atlas to bear the weight of the world and celestial heavens for eternity. That’s a load, even for a musclebound god.
The real-life “Atlas” is the first cervical vertebra, a ring-shaped bone located at the top of the spine. Chiropractor Jane Brewer says the ring-shaped vertebra sits at the critical junction between the head, neck and nervous system – ”a small structure with an enormous job.”
Jane owns Precision Chiropractic (PC) in Windsor, Colo. She and her colleague, Olivia La, provide chiropractic services with an emphasis on that all-important atlas.
That is important because military vets often have issues with the top of the spine due to lugging around bulky packs, wearing heavy vests and helmets, and possibly suffering major injuries due to training or battle.
CRF Founder Marshall Spring has lived through all of those things as a decorated Marine Corp combat veteran. And he has also been a Precision Chiropractic patient since February 2026.
“I suffer from debilitating back pain,” Marshall reports. “Over the years I have been to a lot of chiropractors. Precision Chiropractic employs the most evidence-based, scientific approach to spinal health I’ve ever received. It’s life changing.”
Jane says: “Military vets might suffer from dysregulation of the nervous system from the terrible things they’ve experienced. We can facilitate better balance within the nervous system. People can get stuck in ‘fight or flight,’ especially when returning from deployment. Their systems are on high alert. We access the nervous system through the spine. We help them take their foot off the gas and apply the brakes a bit, back off from living in a state of the fight or flight.” Jane and Olivia’s expertise with the atlas vertebra helps them accomplish this significant objective. “A better quality of life is possible when you are in alignment,” Jane says.
Olivia adds: “Specificity (especially with atlas in mind) matters when it comes to your health. That means we don’t have to use as much force. We’re creating the most effective environment possible for that person to heal. Ultimately, the patient’s body is doing the healing.”
The first step at PC is a complimentary consultation. If Jane and Olivia believe after the consultation that they can help, patients can come in for a comprehensive exam along with diagnostic testing and imaging. PC offers military veterans a $50 discount on the comprehensive examination.
To find out more about PC, go to the website at precisionchiroco.com. You can also schedule that free consultation on the website or by calling 970-663-1617.
Marshall sums it up well. “A major role of CRF is to identify effective resources for our participants and volunteers. Jane and Olivia are two of those potential resources.”
If you feel as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders, consider getting in touch with PC. “Humans are designed to be self-healing, self-maintaining and self-regulating,” Jane says. “A better quality of life is possible when you are in alignment.” That’s the tangible benefit. The other benefit? “We’re here to help provide hope.”
