Jimmy C’s Custom Leather Unleash what’s hidden

   “My passion is helping people,” says Jimmy Coombs, owner of Jimmy C ‘s Custom Leather.

   One way the outgoing Windsor, Colorado resident helps people has been to become a Core Sponsor for CRF. Core Sponsors give a financial donation to CRF and also co-brand products so that the sponsor and CRF share in profits.

   “CRF seems like a great organization with a great purpose,” Jimmy says. “There’s no better cause the community can support.”

   Jimmy C ‘s Custom Leather uses exotic hides such as alligator, ostrich, giraffe, stingray and elephant. He exclusively uses CITES (Council for International Trade of Endangered Species)-approved sources for his exotic leather hides. This governing body ensures materials are responsibly and sustainably sourced.

   Jimmy states: “Everything that lives dies. What better way to honor the spirit of the animal than to make it into something that will last for generations.”

Those products include rugged outdoors items such as knife and hatchet sheaths, belts, bags, holsters and rifle slings. And his products can include the CRF logo upon request.

   As is so often the case, Jimmy first learned about CRF though a chance encounter with Founder Marshall Spring. “We hit it off immediately.”

   So Jimmy is now a Core Sponsor and a co-brander and has accepted the request to become a CRF Advisory Board member. And, don’t forget, he’s a craftsman, an artist.

   Jimmy’s leatherwork mentor is Jerry Van Amburg, a former Navy diver. “We connected over the unique ability to look at a hide and envision what is hidden inside,” Jimmy says. “I bring it out into the open to shine.”

   In some ways, that’s what CRF’s mission is also about: to help veterans – many who have been traumatized – bring back that spark, to become part of a community, to see their own value, to shine.
