Andre Roy was born in a small rural town in the French Quebec Province of Canada. His father was a lumberjack who brought his young family to a New York City suburb; finding work as a carpenter.
At school, Andre was not a good student. His language skills were lacking and his class work fell behind the average level. The teachers felt that he did not have the aptitude to go on to high school courses and arranged for him to attend trade school, meant for those who could not handle regular academic courses. Fortunately, a test was administered to determine placement. To the surprise of everyone, it was discovered that Andre possessed a well-above average intelligence. He expressed an interest in computer science and excelled to a point where he was eventually hired by a Fortune 500 company; American Can Company, at the age of 16. While working in the program maintenance department and serving as the computer librarian, Andre attended the State University of New York. In 1974, he completed the equivalent of what now would be referred to as a degree in computer science.
After moving to Colorado the following year, Andre worked in a series of jobs before becoming employed in the computer room of Associated Grocers; a wholesale distributor of groceries in the Rocky Mountain area. He resumed his academic education at the University of Colorado in Denver, studying marketing, as his interest was leaning away from computers and toward business. By 1978, he was working at a large plastics supply company( Plasticraft, Inc.) in the sales department. Less than a year later, with the owner’s permission, Andre started his first of four plastics businesses in the Colorado and Wyoming area. Besides the plastic businesses, he developed new high quality polishes that were sold to and used by the United States Air Force for military and VIP aircraft use.
In 2004, he sold his last Plastic Business, Fort Collins Plastics, to retire at 49 years old. To gain strength and health from a serious illness, he began working on the forest property he owned in the Northern Colorado Mountains. This is when he realized that current forestry methods needed to be revamped. Soon after his retirement, Andre invented a new way to process forest biomass. This included a method of processing needles and tree limbs using a new machine for which he was granted a U.S. patent. The primary product of this patented machine was a very high-quality fertilizer with significant international potential. This fertilizer has been tested and studied by Colorado State University of Colorado with very positive results. During 2012 and 2013, he was asked by CSU to take over the managing responsibilities of the Water and Soil laboratory. While expanding the possibilities of his new machine, Andre decided to bring to market a special pine soap product he developed. This product is called Pinerite. From a modest beginning, within the time frame of 3 and a half years he has grown the business to a national and now international level. As you can see Andre is not good at retiring.
